3D Printed Colorized Art Installation
Emerging Venus Sculptures
Kim Thoman’s artwork spans both two dimensional and three dimensional spaces. Her artwork features colorized 3D sculptures that are texture mapped with computer generated images of her artwork. Color consistency was a key part of the workflow as texture mapped sculptures and paintings are displayed together.
Throughout the series, our workflow includes testing blocks and color samples to guarantee we get the best color 3D print possible. The artistic sculpture is then 3D printed in two parts. Once the parts are 3D printed and quality checked, the sculpture is then hand sanded, assembled, and sealed with custom satin finish. The final Venus features a hidden, interior hanging system.
