The Laurel Condominium Sales Model

Historical Preservation 3D Model

James Madison Estate Conservation Efforts

James Madison University approached LGM to develop a historically accurate representation of the famous Montpelier James Madison Estate. This model was meant to replicate the historic preservation and restoration processes that the main home and outlying buildings had been going through. Details like shingle, brick, and cladding were to be represented at scale.

Developing one cohesive digital composition of this model meant combing through and aligning on site photography and combining this with existing digital data. Some elements were drawn from imagery, and others from historic 2d elevation data. The texture of each building was unique, from roof to wall. Custom textures and color palettes were developed to provide an accurate model depiction of the estate.
